Reblogging an old post from March, in honor of the upcoming Infinite Summer:

Four different covers of Infinite Jest.  Clockwise, from upper right: 2007 edition released in England; 10th anniversary printing; First hardback edition; First paperback edition. (via davidfosterwallace)

the upper-right cover is actually an updated version of the original abacus (uk paperback) cover, which was printed in 1997. there was no dave eggers forward; the pull quote, however, is the same. i still have my copy, which i found, i believe, on the remainder table at tower books sometime in the late ’90s.

Wow, I have the original upper-right one, too! I bought it at a bookstore on Grafton Street in Dublin in the summer of 1997 when I was studying at Trinity College. I lugged it around for the requisite hosteling-through-Europe weeks that followed and dropped it in the Paris Metro approximately 13 times.
